What do you wish customers knew about your profession?
Kama, our designer, loves working personally with her clients. She’s easy to access via phone or email and works hard to figure out exactly what you’re looking for in a website. She treats her clients like friends and business partners, not customers.
If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
Web design is harder than you think. We have clients that come along and think their web design project is simple…with just a few pages needed. However, because we take their online success seriously, we don’t just slap together websites. Even a simple website takes research, strategy, thought, and know-how to make it look amazing.
We also wish business owners understood the value of a great looking site. The web is one place where you can gain instant credibility by just having a website that looks amazing. Why would you want to save a few hundred dollars and go with something that looks just “okay” when you could look first-class?
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a web designer?
Don’t shop by price. The lifetime value of even one new customer can easily be $1000 or more, so don’t sabotage your online success by hiring a web designer that can’t turn out something sensational. You’ll lose customers and profit that you could have had if you’d just realized that a good web design doesn’t cost. It pays.
Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
We’ve been told, even by web design firm CEO’s themselves that our web design capabilities are a rare find among all the other web designers around. We work hard to make our websites look captivating and modern so that our clients stand out online as highly credible.
How long does it take to build a website?
Generally, we schedule websites to be built in 6-8 weeks, although a lot of that depends on our clients and how quickly they’re able to respond to our requests. The longest we’ve ever taken on a website was just under 11 months–but that was because the client, a high-end home builder, was super busy and didn’t have time to finalize things with us. His schedule was crazy. (But he did love his site!) We like getting in there and getting the job done.
How much does a website cost?
Many websites from big agencies cost over $10,000. However, we’ve streamlined processes to be able to offer them for substantially less than that. However, we are not in the business of turning out ugly, worthless work, so you won’t find us quoting you for a $2000 website. We take your success much more seriously than that.
Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
We work 95% within the WordPress framework because we feel like it offers the most flexibility and development options for our clients. We’ve personally built over 700 websites, 300+ of which have been on the WordPress framework. We decided to move to WordPress exclusively because it is a great content management system which allows for basically anything a small to large-sized business needs. It’s also used by 23+% of all the websites in the world, which makes it the largest framework in the world–excellent for stability and security!
What do you like most about web development?
We love making our clients look great online. We love seeing how their sites are able to easily compete with their industries. We love helping them achieve their online business goals easier by having a website that totally encourages people to trust and do business with them.
